Rachel H. Matto, age 79 of Stanton, NJ, died Sunday, December 31, 2017 surrounded by her loving family at the Hunterdon Medical Center in Flemington, NJ.
Born in New York, NY, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Rachel Hinman.
Rachel had resided in Stanton for the past 67 years.
She devoted a large and rewarding portion of her life to being a dedicated housewife and mother and then went on to work for H & R Block in Flemington for over 20 years.
Rachel was a true Renaissance woman. She taught herself how to design construction plans and then implemented them in several homes. She enjoyed painting, playing Bridge, knitting, crossword and suduku puzzles. She was a master at Jeopardy and a dedicated animal lover. She loved spending time at the family beach house on LBI and she cherished every moment she spent with her precious grandchildren.
She was predeceased by her sister, Connie Taylor.
Rachel is survived by her beloved husband of 56 years, Michael; her two sons, Michael and his wife, Ellen of Stanton and Rich and his wife, Elizabeth of Whitehouse Station; her daughter, Shelly Gass and her husband, Jeff of Stanton and her brother, Walter Hinman and his wife, Adele of New Providence. She is also survived by her 6 grandchildren, Rachel, Sarah, Emily and Jessica Gass and Jane and Edward Matto.
Friends may visit with the family on Friday, January 5, 2018 from 11:00AM to 1:00 PM with a service immediately following at 1:00 PM the Kearns Funeral Home, 103 Old Highway 28, Whitehouse, NJ 08888.
Burial will be in Newell Cemetery in Stanton.
