Norman F. Senkyr, age 91 of Annandale, NJ, died peacefully at his home on Monday, March 30, 2020.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio, he was the son of the late John Paul and Anna Sophia Senkyr.
Norman lived in Winchester, KY before moving to Annandale four years ago.
He was an army veteran who proudly served his country during the Korean War.
He worked for the Railroad as an internal auditor.
Norman was generous with his time and volunteered for many years as a poll worker, and neighborhood board member. As a younger man he greatly appreciated the gift of traveling. He loved trains and train memorabilia and enjoyed square dancing, gardening, woodworking and creating stained glass works. Talented with his hands, he built his first home with the help of his father and brother-in laws. He was considered a “good cook”, but his true mastery lay in pie baking. “Grampa apples” have become a family tradition because of this. Norman rarely missed a session at Health U Fitness Studio and considered both the employees and other members his friends. He cherished time spent with his grandchildren and was devoted to his beloved cat, Nugget.
Norman was predeceased by his first wife, Kathryne Elizabeth (Kitty) in 1990 and by his second wife, Laura in 2016 as well as his brother, John Paul who passed away in 1987.
He is survived by his devoted daughter, Stacy Stansbury and her husband, Brent of Readington Twp. and by his dedicated grandsons Austin and Kyle, as well as many cherished step-grandchildren.
A memorial celebration of life will be announced at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, donations in memory of Norman may be made to St. Hubert’s Animal Welfare Center at www.sthuberts.org or to Certified Fitness for Special Needs, Inc. a 501(c) 3 non-profit subsidiary of Healthy U which serves children and adults of all abilities at www.healthyufitness.com.
