Patricia Ann Monahan Sutter

Age 60     Bridgewater

Beloved Wife, Loving Mother - Family always #1

Patricia (Trish) Sutter passed on Friday September 25th after a courageous 27 month battle with cancer.

Trish was born in Brooklyn, NY and grew up in Rahway NJ.

A proud graduate of Rahway HS she was a top student, the Managing Editor of the Yearbook as well as Team Captain of the twirling team.

Trish graduated summa cum laude from Seton Hall University in English and Communications. She was editor in chief of Comment Magazine & a writer for the Setonian. At commencement, she was awarded the English Academic Award, the Communication Arts Achievement Award and the Student Service Award. Trish also proudly earned a Master of Arts in Teaching degree in 2007.

Trish started her career in NYC as an editor & writer for various magazines for Gralla Publications and later became PR Manager for American International Group in Manhattan before becoming a freelance corporate writer.

After marrying the love of her life Robert in 1985, Trish and Bob started their family in Linden before moving to Bridgewater in 1996.

After taking time to focus on her family Trish successfully started a second career as a high school English teacher at Bridgewater-Raritan HS where she worked for 17 years. She was a friend and mentor to many teachers who admired her professionalism, quiet confidence, and positive manner.

As a parishioner of St Bernard of Clairvaux RC Church in Bridgewater, Trish was active for many years as a Eucharistic Minister and as a CCD Teacher.

Trish was a Hero to her family as she courageously and bravely battled her illness. Even as she battled her own illness her primary concerns were always towards others.  Through her love and kindness she touched many. The outpouring of love and support she received from her many friends from: Rahway, BRHS Teachers, St Bernard Parish, Twins’ Mothers club, Sunrise, Seton Hall alumni, and her many neighborhood friends is truly a testament to her character.

Trish had a lifelong love of reading and books which she instilled in her children through library visits when they were still in a stroller.

Never one for boredom, Trish had a zest for life. From hiking in parks to relaxing on the beach, Trish loved spending as much time as she could with her three boys and husband and truly treated life as an adventure. She loved traveling, hiking, biking, tennis, and baseball.

Trish’s twinkling Irish eyes, smile, & dimples will be long remembered.
