Betty J. Daggett, Owner of Sittin' Pretty Beauty Shoppe
Betty J. Daggett, age 92, passed away peacefully at the Forest Heights Senior-Living Community in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, on August 5, 2021. Born on February 12, 1929, the daughter of the late Charles W. and Anna L. Daggett, she was raised on a farm in Oldwick, New Jersey, and attended Whitehouse Elementary School. Upon graduating from Flemington High School in 1947 she received a scholarship for the study of hair and beauty culture at the Wilfred Academy in Newark. In 1956 she completed a course on public relations in beauty shops at the Rutgers University Extension. After graduating from Wilfred in 1948, she worked briefly at the Hunterdon Hills Beauty Shop in Whitehouse Station, New Jersey. Thereafter she worked at Helene's Beauty Salon on Main Street in Flemington before becoming owner and manager of Sittin' Pretty Beauty Shoppe at the same location. Over the years she was appreciated by her many customers for her expertise, kindness, and dedication.
Ms. Daggett was for many years an active member of the Whitehouse Grange as well as Our Lady of Lourdes Altar and Rosary Society and the Lebanon Borough Seniors Club.
After retiring from hairdressing in 2004, she dedicated herself to her favorite pastimes: gardening, cooking and needlework.
She was predeceased by her sister, Dorothy Radomski, and is survived by a niece, Teresa Radomski, of Winston-Salem, North Carolina; nephews Thomas Radomski, of Cuba, New York, and James Radomski, of Highland, California; grandnephews Aaron Radomski of Conesus, New York, Todd Radomski, of Cuba, New York, Sean Radomski, of Franklin, New Hampshire; and grandnieces Melanie (Radomski) Mancuso, of Webster, New York, Kimberly (Radomski) Schwab, of Portageville, New York, and Christine (Radomski) Schaurer, of Elizabeth City, North Carolina; as well as nineteen great-grandnephews and nieces, and one great-great-grandniece.
A funeral liturgy will be celebrated at 9:30 AM on Thursday, August 12, 2021 at Our Lady of Lourdes Church in Whitehouse Station. Visitation will take place prior to the service at 8:30; the Rosary will be prayed at 9:00.
Burial will immediately follow at St. Bernard Cemetery in Bridgewater.
